ABOUT LAMINGTON'S MERINO WOOL
Merino is very popular for:
- Its unique regulating qualities
- Incredibly soft
- Kind to delicate skin
- Durability & purity.
When worn against the skin merino has an excellent ability in regulating temperature providing warmth, without overheating your loved ones.
Merino also has the natural ability to breathe and draw moisture (sweat) away from the skin.
This provide further benefits in summer by reducing the humidity between skin and garment, giving your child a very comfortable wear.
We love Merino at The Sleep Store. Find our Merino care guides which include stain removal tips and storage advice here.
ABOUT LAMINGTON, THE BUSINESS:
Lamington is owned and operated by Auckland based Sarah Teensma. A Mother herself with two little girls, she is no stranger to what parents need.
Fed up with baby socks that wouldnt stay on and socks that were just too short came Sock-ings; gorgeous knee-high, merino wool socks that wont fall down. No more cold little toes for our kiwi babes.
Lamington was launched in 2005 at the Auckland Parent & Child Show. It began with a range of 8 designer Tees for age 3 months through to 3 years. The mission statement of the business was to make baby and toddler tees that adults want to wear. Strong colours, iconic designs, great 100% cotton fabric and totally, unequivocally NZ Made, that was the concept. The range was met with overwhelming enthusiasm which led to the wider market. Lamington is now stocked in over fifty retail outlets throughout New Zealand including Gift Shops, Galleries and Baby Boutiques as well as some wonderful online stores.
Lamington Merino Sock-ings are a must have in any childs wardrobe. The unique design means they wont fall down and they are made of beautiful Merino wool. Each sock has the age knitted in so no more getting confused with whose are whose.
All Lamington products are proudly New Zealand made using only the best products and manufacturers.
How do I choose the right size sock for my baby?
Babies come in all shapes and sizes. Lamingtons sizes are a guideline only and are not a one size fits all. To ensure your socks are not too tight on your infant always place a finger between your baby’s skin and the band of the sock to make sure the items are not restrictive. If you think they are too firm either scrunch the sock down, fold over the cuff, or go to the next size up. Alternatively use Lamingtons Crew length socks which sit lower on the leg. Lamington knee high socks are designed to be worn below the knee.
My baby has a red mark around his/her calf? What is this?
If your baby gets any kind of mark or reaction please stop using the socks immediately. It could be an allergic reaction to one of the materials or it could be a condition caused by firm fitting socks. Some babies have very sensitive skin and the style of Lamington knee-high socks are not suitable.
Lamington knee high socks are designed to be worn below the knee. They must never be pulled up above the knee to sit on the thigh area. If they are too long they should be folded down to sit below the knee. Please note that Lamington sizes are a guideline only and are not a one size fits all.
How can I stop my Lamington merino socks from pilling?
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to avoid pilling completely. Pilling is caused by friction, the rubbing against another fabric or surface. To reduce pilling, we recommend washing inside out in a lingerie bag. Pilling will increase when worn to bed and with crawling age infants. The feedback we have received is to turn socks inside out for bed or have a pair specifically for sleeping.
Washing & Care
- Wash with similar colours, never in hot water!
- Wash inside out in a little washing bag
- Keep away from direct heat
- Do not bleach
- Do not tumble dry
- Do not dry clean
