Portable Gro Anywhere blackout blind for when it’s still too light to say night night!

This NEW Improved version has Velcro fastening which is easy to use and quick to adjust, it also features a new stars and moon fabric design.

Anyone who has stayed away from home with little ones will know that it can be tricky to create a snoozy sleeping environment when there is too much light flooding in.

The versatile Gro Anywhere Blind has been designed to ’go’ anywhere with you, and can be put in place in minutes. Attaches directly to the glass using suction cups, ensuring a close fit that really does block light properly.

This is also a great option for families who are renting or if you don’t want to put up permanent black-out blinds.

Great for during daylight saving time!!

  • Adapts to fit any window up to a maximum size of 130cm high x 198cm wide, new improved version reduces to smaller window sizes than previously, whilst maintaining maximum size
  • Comes with a handy travel bag
  • New stars and moon design
  • Premium black out material
  • Velcro fastening is easy to use and quick to adjust
  • The blind has suction cups on both the top and sides to enable a close fit to the window

How To Install:

1.  Make sure the window is clean where the suction cups are going to attach.

2.  Starting with an upper corner of the window, work across the top first, then down the sides, and finally along the bottom.

3.  As you go around the window, adjust the size of the Blind to fit using the Velcro patches.

Removal - Important:

When it’s time to remove the blind, or if you are taking it down to go on holiday, remember:

1. Don’t grab the blind and pull – this risks serious damage to the window glass. Simply pull on the release tab of each individual suction cup to break the suction. The ‘release tab peeling action’ lets air in, and the suction cup stops sucking (this also eliminates damage to the cup edge caused by the ‘finger nail removal picking action’).

2. Please note that pulling on the blind to remove it from the window may lead to damaging the eyelets and the blind, and will cause the glass to flex leading to possible window breakage.

Limitations of use:

Do not use on windows that have damaged edges, visible chips, cracks or any other glass or frame damage.  Do not use on laminated, textured/patterned or leaded glass or windows with internal wire strengthening.  The blind can be safely applied to normal single or double glazed windows in good condition.

Rating Great Curtains

By Rachel from Cromwell on 6 May 2019

Easy to hang and make the room very dark

Rating Can block all the light if fitted perfectly

By Tori from Warkworth on 28 March 2019

Great when fitted absolutely perfectly but the suction cups can slip from the window and you end up with either a whole corner falling down or light seeping round the edges. Little bits of light are still fine for day naps and I can't think of a better portable system but for using mostly in the same place I wish there were a magnetic or Velcro option that stayed in place better

Rating Works

By Tori from Warkworth on 3 February 2019

Works well but suction cups can be a bit temperamental and slip off. Usually just 1-2 and if they're going to they do right away, once it's up and been good for a while you don't have to worry about it, possibly a case of cleaning glass better prior to sticking

Rating Pretty good

By Natalie from Wellington on 3 January 2019

I have rated this blind a 4/5 because I found them easy to use and generally good suction although occasionally a sucker falls down and I need to clean the window and put it back up. It gives about 80% blackout on my windows there are slight gaps between the suckers/velcro so I use it under other curtains. Would buy again.

How to use a Gro Clock sleep trainer clock

Gro Clock FAQ

Gro Clock Sleep TrainerIf the power is turned off, does the clock remember the correct time?

When the power goes off, the clock ‘freezes’ all the settings, including the main time, the wake up times and brightness settings. Therefore if the power goes off for a few seconds and then back on, the time will have been paused for a few seconds. However if the power was off say for 3 hours, then the time will be out by 3 hours and will therefore need re–setting.

If I need to keep the power on to maintain the correct time, should I worry about electricity consumption?

No, your clock uses LEDs so it’s naturally energy efficient. However it also has a built–in energy saving mode. One hour after the wake up time has activated, the clock automatically turns off coloured LED lights and runs on a tiny amount of electricity. To re–activate just press any key and the colour LEDs will come back.

What is the difference between the night–time and day–time nap mode?

In a way they are very similar because the clock works in exactly the same way in both modes. Once activated, the clock will count down and the star will change into the sun at the time set in each mode. The reason there are two modes is so that parents who are putting their children to sleep during the day and at night can have the two different times stored, which saves them from having to re–set the wake up times every session.

Can I make the alarm sound at any time and in any mode?

Yes! The time you set for the alarm is independent of the night–time or day–time nap modes. Therefore you could have the sun coming up silently at 7am and then the alarm sounding at 7.30am.

How do I know if the alarm will sound?

The alarm bell icon appears in the cheek of the sun/star when the alarm is switched on.

How can I stop my child from playing with buttons and changing the settings?

Very easily, by using the key–lock function, which is similar to the function on mobile phones.

Is there a demo mode so I can show my child how it changes from the sun to Mr Star?

Yes! There is a built–in demo mode which runs through all the sun and Mr Star transitions. To set the Demo mode on, just press and hold the UP button for three seconds and the clock will show all the transitions on a continuous loop. To turn off the Demo mode, simply press and hold the UP button for three seconds.

My screen has frozen and is not responding to the controls.

Switch the clock off at the mains, wait a few seconds and switch back on.

Remember to check your baby regularly

Choosing the weight of your grobag by tog rating:

A tog measurement is a European warmth rating: the higher the tog, the warmer the product. grobag® baby sleeping bags are available in three tog ratings.

Please note: A number of external factors determine the tog rating of the sleeping bag that should be used. These include the quantity of clothing the baby is wearing, the temperature of the infant’s bedroom, the baby’s health and the amount of bedding necessary to keep an individual infant warm – this may vary as it does for adults.

Check your baby regularly to ensure they do not overheat.

Your grobag® baby sleeping bag comes with a free nursery thermometer to help you select which tog baby sleeping bag to use and what sleepwear to put your baby in.

The table below shows guidelines for the amount of clothing for your baby and the correct tog of grobag® baby sleeping bag that should be used in different nursery temperatures. Please remember that these are recommendations only as all babies are different. You will soon discover the best level of clothing for your individual baby.

2.5 tog grobags are ideal for Autumn, Winter and Spring and can be used right up until the Summer nights become warm. If your nursery is usually below 20°C, we recommend a 2.5 tog Grobag.

However, if you live in a particularly mild region or if you have well insulated and heated accommodation and your nursery is usually 21°C or above, you may prefer a 1.0 tog Grobag for year round use. Our 1.0 tog Grobags are ideal for use from during the Summer months when the nights are warmer and are also very useful in early Spring and Autumn for day-time naps whilst your baby is still in a 2.5 tog Grobag at night.

0.5 tog Grobag Baby Sleep Bags are for use in high Summer, for holidays abroad, or if your child is unwell and has a raised temperature. They are also useful for day sleeps year round, when your child is already dressed in clothing.

3.5 tog is for cold winter temperatures of 12 - 15'C.

Washing Information

grobag® baby sleeping bags can be washed at 40°C and tumble dried on a low heat setting.
As with all cotton goods, we have designed the baby sleeping bags to allow for up to 5% shrinkage.
If your child has any allergies and you wish to wash clothes and bedding at 60°C, you should allow for a little more shrinkage. Our Organic grobag® baby sleeping bags can be machine washed at 60°C.
To ensure the long life of your baby sleeping bag the zip must be in the closed position throughout washing, tumble drying and ironing. Place a cloth over the zip when ironing.
Experience has told us that it is usually best to buy 2 grobag® baby sleeping bags – one to wear and one for the wash!

How is a Grobag different?

Over 90% of new mothers in the UK now use a Baby Sleep Bag and 9 years ago, when Grobags were launched, this figure was less than 2%. At The Gro Company, we are really proud that we have changed the way that the nation puts its babies to bed. But it really does go further than that! When we started Grobag, we not only wanted to give both parents and babies a better and more peaceful night’s sleep, but also a safer night’s sleep. We have worked with, and supported, FSID since 2001 to help promote safe sleep for babies and to help fund their research. We also follow all the latest research into safe sleep to make sure that not only are our Grobags the best quality and safest possible, but also that the information we provide is the most up-to-date and useful for parents and carers.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Its warm weather and my gro egg is on red. What shall I do?

A. Take action to reduce room temperature by opening or closing a window or door or clothing. If it is not possible to bring the room temperature down then you may need to remove all bedding and clothing from your baby, leaving them in just a nappy. Additionally you could use a fan to move air around the room (ensuring it is not within reach of your baby or pointing directly at your baby) and give your baby extra drinks. In extremely warm temperatures, sponge your baby down with luke warm water. If in doubt consult your health professional.

Information from The Gro Company

Sleep. Gorgeous, snuggly, restful, safe sleep

Here at the Gro company it’s what gets us up in the morning (after a wonderful night’s sleep of course), and what inspires us to do what we do.

If you’re lucky enough to have a newborn baby or an energetic toddler, but could use a bit more sleep - you’ve come to the right place.

Grobag started the baby sleep bag revolution back in 2000 and we are very proud to have changed the way that mums and dads put their babies to bed. Over 95% of parents in the UK now use baby sleep bags, making traditional top sheets and blankets a relic of the past.

Grobag has worked closely with The Lullaby Trust, (formerly FSID) The charity works to promote Safer Sleep for babies and support for families. Each Grobag comes with a free nursery thermometer and guide of what to wear.

We go to extraordinary lengths to make sure our Grobags are manufactured to the highest possible quality standards with the very best premium fabrics. Our Grobags meet all the relevant safety standards and in fact the new British Standard was based on our original specifications.

We're thrilled to have won Gold Awards for the best nursery product again this year. The Grobag now has 4 Mother and Baby Gold awards and 2 Practical Parenting Golds and with over 3 million Grobags sold so far, you can rest assured you have chosen the UK’s favourite baby sleep bag.

gro-group's policy on fire retardancy of grobag® baby sleeping bags

At gro-group™ we have a core commitment to ensure that our products are as safe as possible. In order to achieve this, we undertake risk assessments before making decisions about what components to use in our manufacture.

We do not use chemicals to fire retard grobag® baby sleeping bags. This is because prolonged exposure to a high dosage of chemical flame retardant carries considerable risks – for example they may impair the immune system (source. Intertek Testing Services). However, as a responsible manufacturer, we have undertaken to research non-chemical and safe ways in which to reduce the flammability of baby sleeping bags.

Outer fabric and lining: Where possible, we use 100%cotton lining on our grobag® baby sleeping bags in order that a natural and breathable product like cotton will always be next to a baby’s skin. The majority of our grobag® baby sleeping bags also have 100% cotton outer fabric. The only possible way in which to fire retard cotton is to add chemicals and we believe that the risk to an infant of direct contact with these chemicals (by skin contact, sucking or inhaling) outweighs the potential risks associated with fire.

Filling: The filling of our 2.5 tog grobag® baby sleeping bags is made from 100% polyester. It is possible to construct this filling in such a way as to meet the fire retardancy requirements without adding any chemicals. In order to achieve this we use a special mix of three different types of polyester fibres which between them produce a 100% chemical free polyester wadding that complies with BS5852 Ignition Source 0, and will effectively "retard" any flame that comes into contact with the wadding. The choice of this wadding is preferable to the other two options which are as follows:

Standard polyester wadding with no FR properties, when burnt, emits a nasty smell, dark smoke and leaves behind a very hot black residue that, could stick to and burn the skin.
Chemically fire retarded polyester wadding, the exposure to which is potentially harmful to an infant.

We therefore believe that the third option of a chemical free and inherently fire retardant polyester wadding is completely in line with our core safety and quality values.

Although the cotton outer and lining are not fire retarded, the use of the inherently fire retardant polyester filling on our range of 2.5 tog grobag® baby sleeping bags effectively helps to retard fire on a made up product rather than contributing to it, which would be the case if we used a standard (and cheaper) non-FR alternative.

Ouvrielle Holmes, Founding Director, gro-group™. June 2005
